Children, adults, couples, and families
Bio:
My passion is to bring hope and healing to individuals who have experienced a traumatic or stressful event or situation. When severe stress or trauma is experienced it is not unusual to feel unraveled or emotionally uprooted. I help my clients, who include children, adults, couples, and families, find hope and gain healthy perceptions of themselves. I enable clients to strengthen their relationships, so they can recognize themselves as the safe confident and complete individuals they are.
There is not a single therapeutic approach that is perfect for everyone. I have been trained in multiple modalities such as CBT, DBT, Theraplay, CCPT, TF-CBT, and Mindfulness to address the many symptoms that stem from these difficult situations. And to create a treatment plan to meet individual needs. I have sought to gain knowledge about the many dynamics of life experiences and have worked in a variety of settings to obtain that knowledge, to create a safe environment and to effectively help individuals feel empowered.
I have earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Utah University, majoring in Psychology, with a minor in Early Childhood Development. I also have a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Utah.
Marlene Fahnestock, CMHC
Specializations:
CBT, DBT, and Rock Climbing Therapy
Works With:
Clients of all ages
Bio:
Often people have difficulty adequately working through problems themselves or with the help of friends and family. The problems build up, solutions seem unobtainable and things that used to help aren’t cutting it anymore.
When people come into therapy for the first time they are often struggling with fallout from unconscious forces. Clients describe sudden anxieties, sadness, blockages or are unable to do the things which they know will be good for them. Many feel bound because they are driven by unconscious patterns. Others just need some help with coping, changing bad habits, or making a tough decision. My professional focus is on helping people to make meaningful changes in their lives by working through these obstructions. I help promote healing by listening without judgment and by creating a safe environment for healing and growth.
My unique therapeutic approach is a multi-focused spectrum of analysis including CBT, DBT, Existential, Mindfulness, and Solution Driven.
As one of the few rock climbing therapy practitioners available in Utah. I take clients that will benefit from experiential therapy out to climb. I have been the lead guide for an established local company for eight years and have mentored five-year-olds through seventy-five-year-olds through the climbing process. Rock climbing is a moving meditation. When on the rock your mind can’t be focused on anxiety, depression, or your taxes. You have to be totally focused on being present. Rock climbing necessarily brings you out of rumination and encompasses you into the present moment in a provocative learning adventure that continues on into the more common aspects of life. Rock climbing can also be very beneficial for people on the autism spectrum. This is because climbing challenges them to move beyond fixed and rigid patterns of thought to complete novel and unique tasks. Other benefits of rock climbing therapy include distinguishing real fears from irrational fears, emotional regulation, building esteem, enhancement of mood through natural experience, and promoting a profound sense of well-being. Lasting benefits are accrued through the construction of new problem-solving pathways in the brain.

Specializations:
EMDR, DBT
Works With:
Women, Teenage Girls, Clients of all ages and genders
Bio:
Carli is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor providing individual therapy services with Hope Unlimited. She enjoys working on a wide variety of issues with clients of all ages and genders but has the most experience with women and teenage girls working through emotional and sexual traumas. Carli is trained in both EMDR and DBT, but tailors her therapeutic approach to the needs of each individual client she works with to make sure their goals are being met as effectively as possible.
Carli grew up in Missouri, where she graduated from Truman State University in 2016 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Exercise Science. She then graduated from Bradley University in 2020 with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus in neurocounseling.
When she isn’t working, Carli loves doing all things outdoors. Her favorite hobbies include camping, hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking with her husband and friends but she’s also active in the St. George Ultimate Frisbee community and can often be seen kayaking on the local lakes or playing one of our many beautiful golf courses. On the rare bad weather day in Southern Utah, she can usually be found playing (and generally losing) one of the nerdiest board games you can think of out of her husband’s expansive board game library.
